Overview of Services

Independent Trustee Services
A trust is a piece of someone else’s dream. The larger the dream and the more complex are the assets to be transferred, the greater is the amount of preparation needed for the beneficiaries to receive them constructively.
We believe that the skillful utilization of the trust’s distribution function is the determining factor in preparing beneficiaries to constructively receive their inheritance.
We’ve named our service offering of independent trustee services The Generative Trustee. The distribution function in our model is given a separate and more descriptive name of Life Enhancement Trustee.
“If you talk to families – especially psychologically minded grantors – they want someone to do a good job of managing distributions. The goal is to balance beneficiary autonomy with beneficiary accountability. That is the hard part.”
– James Grubman, PhD

Family Meetings
- Discovery
- Assessment
- Facilitation
Discovery – begins with the parents. We will send a short pre-call questionnaire for your completion and return before scheduling a Zoom call with Maria and me. We require both spouses to be on the call.
Assessment of Qualitative Capital – We utilize several different assessment tools depending upon the client family’s goals. All adult family members complete the confidential online assessment. The results will be used to measure, manage and grow the family’s non-financial wealth.
The Initial Family Meeting and Plan Creation – is always held in person. The agenda is for a day and a half. Future meetings can be shortened. In addition to presenting and discussing the assessment reports, we co-create an action plan with family members to achieve their qualitative, or non-financial, outcomes over the next six to twelve months.
More Information
The majority of the problems relating to inheritance can be greatly diminished or in some cases, avoided altogether, by parents talking to their adult children about their planning assumptions before they die or become incapacitated.
